1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad Wagon
Once in a great while a custom Chevy Nomad comes along that defies the
norms – one that has all the right stuff and is built right in every respect,
finished with a degree of detail that makes people stop and stare. This is such a vehicle. Painted in a flawless PPG basecoat clearcoat
hue of Lava Red, the pristine condition of the sheet metal is self-evident – the
body is laser straight and flawless.

Inside,
the car is finished in a pleasing saddle tan combination of Ultraleather and
Suede that is durable and comfortable. Fresh
as hot bread, this double nickel wagon has less than 400 miles on the odometer,
and it is available for the first time after a 20 year nap awaiting its
rebirth.
From bumper to bumper, this Bel Air Nomad is a study in practical
restomod reconstruction. The pristine
body was flawlessly prepared and painted before reassembly on the frame. Just finished, after several years of
painstaking parts and component acquisition, this wagon has been designed and
built with freeway cruising in mind. It
is powered by a 450 horsepower 383 CID small block stroker engine, backed by
the venerable TCI prepared GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission. Under the hood, there is so much polished
bling that you need a welding hood to look at it in the sunlight. The front end is a Fat Man Mustang II setup
with narrowed A-arms, and power disk brakes.
New radial tires surround 17” polished American Racing TorqThrust II
wheels.
Exquisite in every detail, the ivory Classic instruments and all other interior
components, coves, the custom tilt column and steering wheel, power windows,
and trim are all finely polished aluminum.
The glass and rubber seals are new, the Vintage Air Conditioning puts
out ice cold air, and there are a host of small details too numerous to
list. An Optima battery is located in
the spare tire well, and from the ceramic coated headers to the exhaust tips, the
car has a balanced stainless steel exhaust system.
