Seller Description
1964 DUCATI 250 ScramblerRare One Year Only with Diana Spec 30hp Engine
In the 1960s, Ducati USA distributor Joseph Berliner spoke felt the US would be a great market for a street "scrambler", so in 1962 at his behest Ducati released the 250 Scrambler with a 4 speed and high performance motor. It differed a bit from the earlier motocross bikes Ducati offered in that the new 250 Scramblerwas more street friendly but with more power on tap than the concurrent street Ducatis, the GT and Monza. Then in 1964 for one year only, Ducati produced 107 Scramblers in blue with a new style tank and an engine with 30hp as supplied in the Diana.
The example offered here is a bike that someone started some restoration on. It is missing both fenders, lights, foot pegs, chain andchain guard. The engine is totally complete and turns freely with compression. It needs wiring for the lights also. No attempt has been made to start it.
The frame appears to be original paint. The tank may have been resprayed. The wheels, spokes and hubs have been powder coated and new tires were fitted. It still has its original rare Dellorto SS1 27A carburetor.
It has a cool patina andlook to it and would make a great off-road or flat tracker. It'salso a good candidate for a fullrestoration considering the rarity. It is supplied with a clear California title in my name. The extra parts that areincluded are shown in the photos. That's it.
This motorcycle is not advertised anywhere else and this auction is the exclusive venue to purchase it.Rarity is one thing, but desirability is another. This bike has both. This is a great opportunity to restore one your way. This one is offered with NO RESERVE.
