Seller Description

1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 spider
Rare and original first year Kamm tail spider for auction. This is a local Wichita Kansas car first sold in September 1972 by the local dealer, European Car Inc and many years later maintained by The European Car company which has a direct connection to that original dealer.
The car received professionalbodywork renovation, paint work and a new top back in 2015. The repairs included attention to the nose, footwell floor patches and new sills. The car was painted is the original Rosso 514 and presents well though the passenger door now has a small ding courtesy of a garage incident involving a motor cycle. The car remains largely rust free with the exception of some perforation in the spare wheel well. The top fits tight and the plastic rear window is in good shape.
The European Car company was instrumental in bringing this little Alfa back to life. The original 1779 engine receiveda rebuilt cylinder head with new valves, guides, and springs. New water pump and radiator and an upgraded 5bladefan. In addition the following parts have been rebuilt or replaced:New Sachs clutch kit, slave and master cylinderNew brake servo and rebuilt calipersNew engine mounts and rebuilt drive line including new flex joint, center beg and U joint.Cleaned out gas tank and new fuel pumpNew upgraded starterNew ignition switch assemblyNew Centerline shocks front and rearNew track rod ends, front sway bar bushings and alignmentThe original Spica fuel injection is retained with new belt and filters, the original pump is included but has been replaced with a later '74 unit. The car starts easily and drives well. Transmission shifts fine though all gears though 2nd gear does not liked to be rushed. The tires are 2016 Coopers, a little oversize but look well on the car. All lights work fine, the wipers have only one speed, the heater fan works but the heater core leaks and has been disconnected.
The interior is decent with good seats a dash cap and the original (cracked) bakelite steering wheel. I really like the feel of this thin wheel and have resisted replacing it with a later wooden wheel that I have and can include with the car. All the instruments work with the exception of the oil pressure guage which works but quits after a while. The center console has some damage to its edge and is missing a rear mounting.Under the rubber floor mats I have painted POR 15 paint. In the trunk the original rubber mat has been repaired, the spare wheel and jack are retained.
Overall, this is a great, tidy and reliable example of an early 2nd series spider. These early cars are great fun with their eager 1750 engine and have a classic look with their slim bumpers and chrome hub caps that the later cars don't have. Now they finally seem to be getting a little appreciation they deserve.
In the last 3 years we have spent over $14k in renovated and improving the car. Receipts and the owners hand book and a workshop manual are included.

Clear title in hand and for the Kansas buyer the period tag is a nice addition!A deposit of $500 will be required at the auctions end, buyer must arrange shipping. All information has been provided to the best of myknowledge, please do not bid unless you want to own this cute little car. Ask questions! we are in Wichita, KS 67207. Overseas buyers must arrange all shipping but I will work with them as best I can.
