Seller Description
A true survivor, this 1971 Yamaha 350cc R5B has only 2200 ORIGINAL miles on the clock!(most bikes this age have 20K plus miles on them + many have been re-built by now) A 2 owner bike(1st was a woman,2nd an older fellow who unfortunetly died after driving it only a few miles..) it still has the original tool kit, ignition key and owners manual (and shop manual) included with the bike...the bike had been sitting for many years and only recently has been brought back to running condition...last inspected and driven legally in 1979(see pics.), the bike still has the original tires on it from Japan! Very similar in appearance and performance with its younger brother the RD350 the 2 main differences were the R5 had a piston-ported engine + 5 speeds where as the RD had a reed valve motor and 6 speeds...top speed was about the same though...not many defects on this gem with the exception of a very small ding(smaller than a dime) on the L/S of gas tank if you look very close..
.If you know anything about 2-strokes ,you know they are alot of FUN to drive and very reliable bikes..this 1 starts up on 1st or 2nd kick every time...I've owned many of these "giant-killers" over the years...the R5's(70-72),RD350's(73-75) and RD400's(76-78)..and 1 79 Daytona...and they were all a BLAST to ride+ would beat most of the bigger contemporary bikes of the day(650 Triumphs/750 Hondas/Harleys,etc..)but I always preferred the earlier 70-75 350's to the later RD400's simply because they looked cooler+ lighter and were just as fast as the heavier 400's..(it's like comparing a through-bred "race horse" to a "plowhorse") but thats just my personal view... the 400's looked" too fat + chunky" to me with those heavy ugly mag wheels(chrome spoke wheels are sexier+ prettier+lighter ) and big fat looking clunky seats(with the exception of the 79 Daytona...a beautiful design!)but they all were FUN bikes to ride back in the day for sure....If you have any 's you can call my cell at two one five nine zero one fourteen ten or just ask me through the auction format... This is a NO reserve auction ..high bidder wins it! Good luck bidding and best of luck to all the bidders! Mike. sorry no 0 feedback bidders! On Aug-26-20 at 16:54:50 PDT, seller added the following information:One of the bidders(Robin is his name) requested a short video of the bike starting up cold and running through the gears to make sure the bike is in good running condition... his no. is four zero seven six six six four one four five if anyone wants to see the bike running..he said he'd be happy to pass it along to the fellow bidders..just text him your no.and he'll forward to you the short video Thanks Mike.
