Seller Description
Hello! Here I have a beautiful vintage bike for sale. I have several motorcycles, and I need to make space for other things in my garage. The motorcycle is located in Charleston, SC. If you have any questions or would like additional photos please contact me instantly. These bikes are hard to come by, so please contact me and don't miss out on a somewhat rare collectible.
This is a 2 stroke, kickstart (only), vintage Yahama bike, and when tuned properly, these bikes are a great deal of fun to ride. All gears shift smoothly. The bike has been sitting for several years in the garage, however it has been indoors and rain proofed. Prior to storage, it ran with no issues. It may now be in need of a carburetor adjustment. The main reason for storage was due to it being only 100cc displacement and not being able to ride on public highways; however, this bike can be tagged for road use in the state of SC. As you can see in the photos, this bike has its fair amount of patina, though it is clean for its age and all original parts have been taken care of. Nothing on this motorcycle is custom or aftermarket, which allows it to hold its true value.
After taking this bike from storage, I replaced all fluids (engine and reservoir oil) and purchased 2 new NGK spark plugs. The battery is brand new as well with new leads for the terminals. Before placing the new spark plugs, I gapped them to spec. Also, the yellow fuel lines are new. I think that the yellow really adds a bit of character to the blue paint and stands out much more than clear or black lines.
The only flaws on this bike are all minor and could easily be fixed or replaced.-There is a dime sized dent on the left side of the tank (original 1972 tank) and the chrome fender (rear) being weathered. That said, the front chrome fender is perfect with no rust.-Very slow petcock leak (easy fix)-Carburetors need to be adjusted
Any motorcycle with a carburetor requires an adjustment or sync of the carbs over time as a part of scheduled maintenance. At the least, it could be the idle screws needing to be adjusted and synced; at the most, it could be that you need to open the carbs and replace the gaskets or diaphragms. Either fix is extremely simple and inexpensive.
If you're reading this post and considering purchasing a collectible 70's motorcycle, then you already know that the issues I mentioned are not unusual and are fairly simple repairs. This bike is not showroom of course, but it is definitely worth its value and not hard to make perfect. It also comes with the original shop manual (seen in photos) and 2 original Yahama factory keys.
Thanks for checking out my post, and I hope you enjoy the photos. Please contact me with any questions or inquiries.
