1976 Honda CR125M Elsinore , Vintage Twinshock VMX
A really nice �76 CR125M2 , the first year of the all red Honda CR lineup originally built on April 28th 1976 and just rebuilt from the frame up. Anything that was out of spec was replaced.The engine has been professionally rebuilt , with all new bearings , seals , rebuilt crank,new piston and rebore. New clutch. Carb rebuilt. Starts and runs superbly . Ready to race. No miles just a couple of heat cyclesThe frame and swingarm have been media blasted and powder coated. The original mudguards are still in place as I couldn’t bring myself to replace with reproductions . The original side panels and tank have been painted and new decals fitted along with a new front number boardForks have been serviced and fitted with new oil and dust seals. Rear shocks damp perfectly and are clearly newer replacements so I just fitted new bushes.The hubs have been blasted and powder coated and rebuilt with new spokes and powder coated rims. All new bearings and bushes throughout inc swingarm, steering , wheels , brake pedal etc.Tyres are new and road legal.Cables are good originals . New bars , levers and grips and grippy seat cover also fitted.The airbox has been blasted and powder coated , drain hose and a new oiled filter is in place. The airbox lid has the rubber snorkel in place and chain and sprockets are new.
Unusually for these bikes, this still has the original sidestand, perfect alternator cover and original factory exhaust, complete with the very rare silencer/ spark arrester.The crankcases are original, no repairs including the chain side and the engine number area.
Don’t underestimate how hard it is to find a genuine bike with these parts fitted. Most original exhausts were replaced years ago and alternator covers were either cut to facilitate quick and easy sprocket swaps or damaged when a chain snapped (along with the LH crankcase ). The price of these parts will make your eyes water , that’s if you could even find them for sale.
It’s a lovely bike , ready to race , ride or just look at .
I’ve submitted the application to register the bike with the DVLA and so will be legal to ride during daylight hours when the V5 arrives. It will be registered as an historic vehicle so no tax to pay and MOT exempt.I’ve not seen another road legal 76 CR125 , so be the first to own one !V5 will be transferred to the new owner via the online process when it arrives.
Maybe able to assist with delivery (at cost) depending on location in the UK.Other 73-75 Elsinores available soon as I need to make some space.
