Seller Description
One of the last Minis produced in Australia - production stopped in October 1978. It was originally delivered to Avis in Melbourne on 5 January 1979 with the registration number AJL 366, (the delivery sticker is still inside the boot, and also lists the original engine number).I purchased the car as almost complete without an engine, (it had earlier been converted to a larger engine with a remote gearchange, but this was removed by the previous owner, and I have now restored the rod-change mounting points).
I have an unrestored A+ engine from the same era, (probably from a Moke), which is included. The gearchange, driveshafts, shock absorbers and exhaust are NOT included.
All rust has been treated and repaired - it was mainly in the sills and lower A-pillars - ahead of the jacking points, the passenger door base, and the boot under the RHS tail-light.All surface rust has been treated and primed, and the footwells are in good condition. Overall, the body is very clean and straight, requiring minimal work before painting.
The subframes have been removed, cleaned, painted and fitted with new pins, knuckle joints, CVs, bearings, mountings, bushes, brake cylinders, shoes, springs, rear adjusters and hoses, then re-installed. The steering rack has been restored, with new boots and tie-rods. The inner guards and subframe areas have been stoneguarded. The car can be rolled and steered, and the handbrake is working. Original keys are provided.
The interior is complete and original, showing normal wear and tear, and the original wheels have old Aquajets fitted. This car would be ideal for someone who wishes to restore a Mini, but wishes to avoid the unknowns of rust and underbody mechanical issues. Inspect at any time.
