Seller Description

I have several BSA B50s (500cc singles) C&J B50MX, Rickman B50MX, Triumph TR5MX, B50T and I know a bit about B50s. This C&J BSA B50MX is Nearly Perfect and RUNS GREAT! In 98% ORIGINAL and is UNRESTORED Condition!! C&J RACING are part of Vintage Motorcycle Racing History and were inducted the AMA Hall of Fame! This rare bike is also part of Motorcycle Racing History! I have spoken to Jeff Cole (the C of C&J) several times and he said he only built 10-12 BSA B50 frames, so this bike is ULTRA rare. This C&J Racing BSA B50MX is a 1970s-1980s MOTO-X time capsule!....IMPORTANT FACTS! They built 2,900 BSA B50MX but only 10-12 C&J B50s!! Also C&J BSA B50 frames are different then C&J frames for Hondas, Yamahas, etc. Because they are designed as OIl in Frame, with an oil tank part of the top tube and with oil plumbing fittings in several places lower on the frame for oil supply and return etc...This bike is also a lot lighter then my Rickman B50MX and has better and longer suspension... As I work on the bike I continue to notice that everything is almost like new from the 1970s-1980s and has virtually never been used since the bike was built. There is a very slight "Patina", but the Paint is original and is very nice, the B50MX engine shows signs of being totally rebuilt then basically NEVER being run. Totally clean inside the cases, no carbon on the piston, the chrome on the pipe was like new and not discolored (blued/browned)... most rubber parts are still soft and intact, the Curnutt Shocks look almost like new, Betor Forks shine, Akront rims are nice still with original stickers etc. According to what I have been told by a few people, includingspeaking with the two previous owners about this bike. This is the basic history of this ULTRA RARE bike. This C&J BSA B50 frame was supposedly bought in 1[hidden information] by a young desert racer (Greg McDonald) who had very limited funds. It took him 15-20+ years to finally save enough money to buy the correct BSA B50MX engine and then score ALL of the correct Hot Ticket 1970s-80s Moto-X parts ( Extended Betor Forks, Akront Rims, Curnutt Shocks, CZ and BULTACO Wheels, Alloy Fenders etc.) He then had the B50MX engine totally rebuilt with higher compression and they installed a huge 38mm bore Mikuni and a Boyer Electronic ignition. When after an eternity had passed McDonald finally finished assembling his dream bike, he then realized it was impossible to kick start! When McDonald did finally get it started (push started by two friends) it ran absolutely TERRIBLE! McDonald tried tuning/re-jetting the carb, changing the timing etc. But no luck... Then after many more years had passed and being totally dejected because his dream bike did not start or run well, McDonald just let the bike sit inside his house. Untilmany year later when he finally sold the bike to the second owner. The sale happened not longbefore Greg McDonald died...The second owner sent the bike to Bill Getty of JRC Engineering in about 2010, Bill removed the Mikuni and installed a stock Amal 932 carb and Bill also removed the Boyer ignition and installed stock points. The bike then started and ran like a normal B50MX! Bill said he rode the bike around the JRC parking lot to test it. The second and the third owner never used the bike and it sat for a bunch more years. I scored the bike. Because of the non use, I first cleaned the Amal carb, changed the oil and gas and then I kicked the bike a few times ( OK so I lied)... I kicked the bike a lot of times, then a lot more times… Then amazingly it fired up and sounded and ran great!!I rode the bike here in Malibu about a 1/2 mile just to test it out.

During the next few days and "if " the snow finally goes away I might take the bike up to our cabin in Big Bear. I may run the Hell out of the bike and attack those steep dirt trails where my friend Bud Ekins used to race, back in the Glory Days of Hare Scrambles. I just want to see if a C&J really handles and rides that much better then my TR5MX or my Rickman B50MX?I reserve the right to end the auction EARLY at ANY TIME based on- 1.) I might keep the bike if it is so much better then my other B50MXs 2.) Crash the bike, or Blow Up the B50 Engine :-) or 3.)
