Seller Description

Rare-unique, one of a kind, matching numbers save for replaced components, ONE OWNER Vega GT trim from GM to new car dealer to me as a complete GT package in 1972. Not in show room condition but evidences much more than mere, "show" or "go"! Like 40+ years as my Daily Driver! Not cobbled together from several different vehicles with NO DISCLOSED ORIGINAL VIN. Not a depleted, salvaged, base model of several Vegas re--purposed for drag racing and subsequently made pretty after the fact to resell. Daily driver, bought tail-lights-over-the-curb new by me from a S. Calif. Chevy dealer in 1972. 'NOT USED FROM A JUNK YARD', where I dumped the factory 4 banger after 30,000 new miles. This 1972 Vega GT was converted over to a new crate Jeep V-6 Buick-Jeep in 1975 with stock 2:92 rear and consistently gave 35 m.p.g.(US) at 70 MPH at 2450 rpm. after the 1[hidden information] V-6 swap. Since last rebuild about 2000 miles back with a higher lift CompCam, larger valves the mileage dropped to currently 30 mpg(US) at 70 mph. HP to weight ratio about the same as the Nissan 370Z. I maintained, modified, by my own hands save for the machining and cutting-welding-encouragement-advice by Steve Williams of K@N Filters at his grandfather's Loma Linda Apts. in orderto accommodate install of Hooker Headers. Vega GT has used these K@N air filters for a big block Chevy most of its life. Driven daily for 40 + years. Long Beach Calif. Dossier Jeep ordered from New Jersey an exceptionally completed crate, seasoned green painted 1969 Dauntless Jeep-Buick engine V-6 225" which I broke down new, found a galled wrist pin and had completely balanced by a machine shop close to the U. of Calif. at Riverside tennis courts. When this guy was sober he did many of the then Nascar Riverside Speedway engines. Ignition keys original from 1972. Engine has less than 2,000 miles since last fully balanced-blue printed rebuild using a torque plate I supplied the machinist, is blue printed with tight tolerances, all oil, exhaust, intake and water passages have been hogged out, Clevite bearings, Chrome Moly rings. A retired engineer who balanced jet engines for Boeing in Seattle did the balance. Double valve spring tension 110 lbs., Chevy 409 push rods, best to, 'Dale Armstrong'. The suspension springs, Pontiac Firebird front sway bar and original factory GT rear sway bar all combined to produce NEUTRAL handling. Neutral on Calif. roads such as those around Lake Mathews, Big Bear, SR70 San Juan Capistrano to I-15, Topanga Canyon and Lake Shasta. Not the front end plowing of those heavy V-8's that weigh about 125+ lbs, more. I placed the C/G of this light V-6 dead center over the front axles as handling-performance and gas mileage were my achieved goals, not lead foot-straight line acceleration! Naturally, with a weight to HP ratio of 9.6 to 1 it is a sleeper as only the sound and duals are suggestive. V-6 was slightly lighter as I was dragging each around the garage floor while I did the swap in 1[hidden information]. A V-8 is physically impossible to place dead center over the front 1972 Vega GT spindles without modification of the original firewall. HEI odd fire distributor with light advance weights-springs, adjustable vacuum advance, Jacobs ignition installed for use if needed but requires the coil cover and spring lead contact, has passed Calif.State Referee Oceanside Smog Station with certified decal under the last paint job, VDO gauges including L-R cylinder head temp. gauges, original working cigar lighter, original speedometer and gas gauge. Roof needs painting and has been RustMort treated. Light to moderate rust on bottom front fenders and back rear wheel wells, base of windshield was sand blasted and built up with fiberglass when I properly installed my own glass in S. Calif. Subsequent "professional" windshield installer did not use a layer of pinch-weld first so it leaked causing me to use the ugly visible tape, inside trunk very good needs spare tire cover which does not effect the structural safety of the vehicle. Safety and looks-appearance are not related and that is why I drove it for over 40 years and would be today if I was not 76 years old!. I recommend a personal and knowledgeable on-site viewing of the vehicle re these rust issues Folding back seat in very good original condition, R bucket original vinyl needs replacement, drivers bucket was finished with black fully woven breathable Corvette vinyl and needs replacement, needs new windshield, primary wiring needs completion as does original ignition switch which at age 76 I started and cannot complete, new, never cranked Exide Eliminator Ultra AGM 925 cold cranking Amp H. battery at 0 C, new not installed steel battery holder, Cloyes double roller timing chain and gear set, 1/4 and 5/16" steel plates welded to body for engine mounts, Hurst shifter, Carol Shelby 14" rims with 2 Gorilla locks on each rim, Henry's Axle 5 studs, Cosworth steering box, ram air, regular gas if 91 octane according to the 69 Jeep factory manual, Saginaw 4 speed trans. with Muncie bolt pattern, odometer trans. gear correct number of teeth for accurate speed by S, Calif. AAA testing, HD greaseable universal joints on drive shaft and modified steering column, double chromed thicker than stock rocker shafts, modified -bronze bushed Detroit Diesel steel rocker pedestals replaced the factory distorted Alum. holders. Specially-unique foundry cast in the L.A. region Alum.

4 barrel Brian Chuchua intake manifold with water heat cross overs. The competitors did not have these water heated castings. Small Quadrajet with jets and rods resized to this V-6, 77 Buick Sky Hawk steel rockers, 30" equal length 14 G, 1. 2" header primary mandrel bent tubes need completion as they are only tack welded to the old Hooker Header flanges, current exhaust manifolds are 75 Buick Sky Hawk and Jeep, Ansa double chromed resonator exhaust tips, KYB gas shocks, all suspension components are Moog, with many spare parts still in package, new sealed set of Comp Cam lifters, new in box idler arm, control arm bushings, drag link replaced within last 1000 miles, new in packages HEI caps, Al. and bronze contacts as well as modules, new METRO SUPERsoft Sponge weatherstrip for original hatch which needs a new lock and latch which are both provided, replacement rear brake-body-running light lens, 1973 factory manual, locking gas cap, new in box clutch cable, New in box CSR-CSI-103 high torque starter, new in box Delphi electric fuel pump. Driver door sags and needs to be reinforced but still shuts to the first catch, several door bronze bushings, new in package Raybestos front semi-metallic pads and semi metallic rear 2" Monza shoes, Wix filter 51258, Baldwin B-39 micro oil filter, Vega GT used Kendall GT1 until they ceased the copper additive a couple of decades back, light sockets(2), control arm bushings, Buick Free Spirit Power Manual, Sa 146 max power Buick engines book, more. Tires, Pirelli P-4 195x70 still very good tread (about 2,000 miles of usage) but sidewalls cracked. Discount Tire in Midland Texas have replaced for me in the past. Car not currently running due to electrical needs that I can no longer address. These electrical issues caused me to store Vega GT in S. Alberta after I exported it a few years ago from U.S. into Canada where I now reside. US border agents stated May 14, 2018 that only Federal US paper required to take Vega GT into US was two of their forms, valid title and my bill of sale if its for personal usage not commercial, no fee. Shelby, Montana about 33 miles from the border crossing has Uhaul and First Interstate Bank. Sweetgrass MT.-Coutts AB. is the border crossing where US I-15 and Alberta-4 join. SW Air has agreements with United-Continental to fly to Calgary through Denver and are the very best Airlines I have encountered. Bar none! I would be happy to pick up buyer and drive to where the vehicle is stored. There are also air commuter flights between Calgary and Lethbridge Alberta. Great Falls MT. is about the same distance from me as Calgary. Buyer will understand the value of 40+ years of my personal, hands-on, one owner, blood, sweat, tears, competency and abilities to conform the first possible throw away auto by Chevy into a work of functioning art, using essentially all GM parts. I drove this Vega GT when not repairing nor modifying as my DAILY DRIVER for over 40 years! This street modified, one owner, 1972 VegaGT still functions due to the RENDERED RESPECT, upgrades and care it has received for 46 years by original owner. The Vega GT U.S. dollar price is now about $6,079.00 US. I am quite willing to take a modern brain scan lie detection as to anything I have or will represent. Thanks,Ron
