Seller Description
1968 RILEY ELF Mk.3 for private sale !
A totally unique and beautifully restored example of a very desirable and rare car !
Riley Elfs were produced from 1961 to 1969 by Riley Motors Ltd, a British company with a legacy of producing high quality motor cars. With the sudden huge order numbers for BMC's incredible mini, Riley were asked to produce their own variant. A special body was produced by Fisher & Ludlow of Birmingham, then delivered to the Abingdon works for assembly. The final product included a leather & timber interior, the larger 998cc engine and was quite a stunning variant which achieved popularity with the wealthy as a town car.I personally lived in UK 1960 to 1965 and we still have the 1964 Mk.2 Elf which we purchased new as well as this 1968 Mk.3 Elf. Both cars are restored to a very high standard.
The car for sale has wind-up windows & hydraulic suspension as the main model improvements over earlier models. It was a one owner car in UK until 2006 when it was intended to be the personal car of the trade-in dealer. An offer was made from an Australian BMC parts dealer and it was imported to Australia where, again, it was intended to be his personal car.
I aquired the car in Jan.2018 and restoration (which was well under way by the previous owner) was completed Dec.2020 with now almost everything either renewed or reconditioned. As well, a significant number of genuine period accessories have been fitted. After completion of restoration all minor details of sorting out for trouble free motoring were completed and the car is now an absolute pleasure to drive and keeps up easily with modern traffic with its upgraded 1100 cc engine. The sale includes a full detailed history of restoration ,original sales brochure, import certificate, owner's manual etc.
The vehicle is on 60-day historic plates which obviously cannot go with the car. I will provide a pink slip for the new owner.
