The Chevrolet Corsica is a front wheel drive mid-size car manufactured by General Motors from 1987 to 1996. The Corsica was based on the L-platform. On the same platform, the 2-door Chevrolet Beretta and the Pontiac Tempest were built, which was essentially the same vehicle as the Chevrolet Corsica sold in Canada. The production of the Corsica and Beretta models was carried out at the same factories in Wilmington and Lipa. Throughout the history of the Chevrolet Corsica model, it was released in two body styles: a 4-door sedan and5-door hatchback (1989-1991). Note that the car had four trim levels: base, LT, LTZ and XT.

For the first time, the Chevrolet Corsica was introduced in 1987 as a sedan. And already in 1988, the Corsica model, together with the Chevrolet Beretta, ranked second in demand in America. Unlike the standard Corsica, which had silver door handles, the LT and LTZ versions (introduced in 1989) had black handles.

In 1989, a hatchback version of the Chevrolet Corsica entered the market. In the same year, the LTZ options package appeared, which included many e-mailsuspension cops that were borrowed from the Chevrolet Beretta. The rarest version was the XT, which had all the options of the LTZ, and also had a leather interior and a body kit and spoiler specially ordered by General Motors from a third-party company. For the car, two transmission options were proposed: a 5-speed manual transmission and a 3-speed "automatic".

1987 to 1989 for the Chevrolet Corsica, two engine options were offered: a 2-liter OHV I4 power unit and a 2.8-liter LB6 V6 engine.

In 1990, only two trim levels remain: LT andLTZ. And both of the previously offered engines were replaced by new modified versions: the OHV I4 engine was now 2.2 liters, and the new version of the V6 power unit with a volume of 3.1 liters was called the Gen II V6.

In 1991, the production of the Chevrolet Corsica hatchback was discontinued. The car also received an updated interior with a driver's airbag and cup holders. The location of the seat belts has also been displaced. As for the exterior, the car received new taillights.

In 1992, only one version was offered - the LT.Also this year, the 3-speed automatic transmission is replaced by a 4-speed "automatic" with electronic control.

In 1995, the car receives a radiator grill and body-colored moldings.

In 1996, the production of the Chevrolet Corsica and Chevrolet Beretta models was discontinued, and already in 1997, the Chevrolet Malibu came to replace the Corsica.
