Logan debuted in the fall of 2004. Production was established in Romania, the car is supplied to the markets of third world countries. In Romania, it is marketed under the brand name Dacia, now owned by a French company. In 2005, Logan began to be produced in Moscow under the Renault brand.

Having estimated the possibilities of the markets of Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa in time, the company's marketers decided to enter these territories not with a converted car from the current model range (as was the case with the Clio earlier), but with a new car.

Developed in record time, in just a couple of years, Logan imIt has a roomy body, a modest design without any special frills and a fairly modern interior. The Logan is based on the "B" platform, on the basis of which Renault Modus, Nissan Micra and the latest generation of Renault Clio are built.

The exterior has been developed in accordance with the firm's concept of "strength and quality". The design has many straight lines that can be traced from the hood to the rear bumper, which gives the car a rather dynamic look.

The exterior is quite harmoniously combined with the interior of the Logan - a minimum of luxury with the maximum possiblenew functionality. From an aesthetic point of view, the main advantage of the cabin is the front panel. Despite the fact that it is clearly made of materials of far from the highest quality, everything looks quite presentable: round air vents, a hemispherical "visor" of the dashboard, polished aluminum finished center console with large buttons and switches. The rather large three-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the Clio, also came into place. The rest of the interior decoration has special stylisticthey do not differ in delights.

Salon Logan is simple and unassuming: light gray plastic, soft fleecy ceiling, fabric seat upholstery, black carpet on the floor. Quite roomy in the back seat, a company of three people is comfortable enough. In addition, there is one indisputable advantage - all panels are made and fitted with almost perfect precision. All the necessary controls are concentrated on the paddle shifters and the center console, which is very convenient. It is noteworthy that the driver's seat hasminimum adjustments, and the steering column does not move at all. Adjusting the seat cushion height is only possible with Privilege equipment.

Considering the need to facilitate assembly outside of French factories, the body parts are not particularly complex, many components are not very high-tech, but reliable and simple. For example, the exhaust system consists of one piece, the fuel tank has an additional removable filter, and the mirrors and moldings are made the same and can be attached toto the right and left side of the vehicle.

During the development of Logan, components and assemblies from other models of the brand were actively used. Take at least the suspension - the front uses a pseudo McPherson design with lower wishbones, developed on the basis of the Clio II suspension, and a semi-independent H-shaped cross member with trailing arms borrowed from Renault Modus is installed at the rear. The entire heating system was also inherited from the new Modus. The electronic unit, the buttons of which are usually located on the front console, migrated from the Twingo, and from the Espace, the car received deflectors of the cooling system and a knob for the wings of the gearbox. But it was Clio who gave Logan the most - the engines, steering, rear brakes, dashboard, door handles, steering wheel and paddle shifters.

Vehicle dimensions are 4250/1735/1525 mm. The width of the cabin along the shoulders is 1380 mm at the front, 1400 mm at the rear, the maximum height is 1220 mm, the ground clearance is 155 mm. The sedan weighs only 975 kg. The luggage compartment volume is 510 liters.

The range of engines consists of two eight-valve petrol injection engines: a volume of 1.4 liters. and a capacity of 75hp, volume of 1.6 liters. and a capacity of 87 hp. All power units are equipped with five-speed manual transmissions, which have already proven themselves on the Clio and Kangoo models.

Several trim levels are offered: Logan, Ambiance, Laureate, Laureate Plus.

The top version of the Logan is equipped with power steering, anti-roll bar, two airbags, ABS with EBD and R15 wheels.

Basic equipment includes a driver's airbag, 14-inch wheels, black bumpers.

In the Ambiance version, a central assistant is addedk, fabric door inserts, remote mirrors, tinted windows, height-adjustable belts, painted bumpers, moldings and wheel caps and a cup-shaped ashtray.

The Laureate trim package offers power steering, driver's seat height adjustment and lumbar support, an on-board computer, electric front windows and mirrors, foglights, 15-inch wheels and some more luxury touches.

Finally, the richest Laureate Plus package beyond the above flaunts toair conditioning and, of course, a 1.6-liter engine. The car is equipped with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

The body has a full anti-corrosion treatment, 70% of the panels are galvanized. The basic equipment of the Logan includes metal protection for the engine oil pan, fuel and brake lines.

Logan from the French turned out to be practical, reliable, and most importantly economical.

The successful combination of price and quality led to the incredible popularity of the car on all five continents, therefore, already in 2009, aupdated version. The car began to look more modern. The exterior has become more streamlined and elegant, with a new radiator grille with a chrome strip, updated front optics, different front and rear bumpers and increased volume side mirrors, which significantly improved visibility to the sides. The rear end is accentuated by updated lighting technology and improved trunk lid geometry. New alloy wheels and an expanded color range complete the picture. In a word, Logan has become noticeably prettier.

The interior decoration after the renovation is small andchanged. The lines of the interior have become smoother, without sharp corners and transitions. The ridiculous pockets disappeared from the doors, and their place was taken by full-fledged, gracefully curved handles, smoothly turning into the armrests. The handles themselves are finished with high-quality metal-like plastic and have the shape of a bird's wing. The top-of-the-range three-spoke steering wheel is finished in leather. The instrument cluster on top-end cars has matte light dials.

The restyled Logan has 3 engines: 1.4 liters with 75 hp, and two 1.6-liter engines with 84 hp. (8-valve) and 102 hp. (16-valve). The latter appeared in the car after the update.

The car received more rigid elastic suspension elements and lost the anti-roll bar. The increase in the stiffness of the silent blocks, springs and shock absorbers made it possible to achieve a threefold increase in lateral stiffness at the front and two times at the rear axle. As a result, even without an anti-roll bar, the ratio of the angular stiffness of the drive axle remained at about the same level as that of the first Logan with a stabilizer: 54.4% versus 54.5%. These changes are not rightonly influenced the technical attractiveness of the car, but also made it more stable. Aerodynamics and handling have also improved.

There are still four levels of equipment to choose from: Authentique, Expression, Privilege, Prestige. The difference in nuances: fog lights, alloy wheels, the presence of air conditioning, heated seats, ABS and a second frontal airbag.

At the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, the premiere of the second generation Logan will take place. It is expected that the successor will inherit the philosophy of a practical and affordable car, while underAs well as in size, it will take on a more modern look, improved motors and transmission.
