In mid-1987, the body underwent slight cosmetic changes. BMW models of the third series in September 1988 were restyled. New headlights were installed on the cars. The shape of the tail and rear lights has been modernized. The M10 was then discontinued and replaced in 1987 by the M40 with a new injector and more power. But the real miracle was the appearance in 1989 of the M40 modification with the M42 code. Following the debut of the BMW M3 coupe, the Bavarian automaker has officially presented the sports sedan of the same series. The four-door M car has returned to the BMW lineup for the first time since 1994.
