Up for sale is my 1929 REO Royal B2 Mate rumble seat coupe. This car is extremely rare. It was sitting in a barn for 49 years up until recently.

HistoryThe 1929 REO B2 Mate was the very first car to ever have full 4 wheel brakes and was a mid to upper trim luxury car REO manufactured, which makes this particular car very unique and a huge part of automotive history! This car in 1929 was over $1,700 dollars to purchase so you were quite the big wig in this car!The vehicle has been stored in Alberta, Canada since the early 1960’s from what I know from the previous owner.
OptionsThis car also has some very rare options for back in the day which include it being a true dual spare tire car, upgraded gauges inside on the dash, rarer metal spoked wheels, golf club side door, roll down back window and deluxe windshield wiper. The engine is the Continental inline 6 with a 3 speed manual transmission. The vehicle is how you see it and what you get it what in the pictures. The vehicle’s color is originally Malga Maroon with the red swept paint style as you see on it currently.
The vehicle was painted black at some point many years ago.
ConditionThe vehicle is very solid for being 89 years old and retains all of it’s original sheet metal. As you can see it has had a few weld up fixes over the years on the one fender and it has been bumped into on the driver rear end. The damage has only bent it in a tiny bit and has not affected the frame to what I am aware of. All the doors open and close but sag very heavily. The front window still slides open but is very stiff. The interior comes with what’s left of the lower seat, there is now rumble seat left just some of the outer mounting brackets. As you can see the wood is still very good for making new patterns with it. The wood frame structure underneath is still very solid and the floor board wood is fairly intact as well. The steering wheel has also survived very well for being original. The vehicle has NO key but it does shift in and out of all gears freely.
The vehicle has not run in a number of years, however the engine does rotate by hand. The tires are old and crusty but I put 4 brand new tubes in the tires, one somewhat has issues holding air, the brakes do NOT work. This car also sat upon wood blocks for years so the suspension seems to have held up very well and does not sag. The vehicle is missing certain items like the radiator cap, wheel bearing covers and it is missing the two spare tires, I have a set of Chevrolet spares just resting on the car for looks. The buyer can choose to take them free of charge with purchase. The car is roughly 90% complete and will need a complete restoration.
Do not miss your chance to own a true piece of automotive history. These cars do not come around at all.
Vehicle Shipping/Delivery/Pick-UpI will deliver the car locally or within western Canada (within 1,000 km of Blackie, AB) for a small fee of $500 which we can arrange after the auction ends. Otherwise, buyer is fully responsible for arranging pick-up/shipping within 30 days of Auction End, unless otherwise discussed and agreed to in advance. I will be willing to keep the car in storage at my place free of charge indoors until you can pick it up since we have issues right now with distancing and border closures, subject to approval before final purchase.
The car must be paid for in full at the end of the auction in USD funds. The vehicle is AS IS WHERE IS and is free of all liens and will come with a Bill of sale. This vehicle does not have a title due to it’s age. A bill of sale for the USA buyers will allow you to import the vehicle if you choose.
