Seller Description
Up for sale is a first year Ducati 750GT. I bought it several years ago from a customer and restored it back to as close to original as I could, rode it a little and now, due to time and a bad back I need to sell it. The original owner sold it to me because he had a hard time starting it and each time I gave it back, I asked to buy it. The first thing I changed when I bought it was the points ignition. It is not easy to get the ignition perfect on both cylinders without a dial gauge and degree wheel so I replaced the whole point setup with a Dyna ignition, set it and it's done forever.
Someone had installed a 16 inch rear rim at an earlier time so I sourced an 18 inch Borrani rim and relaced both wheels with Buchanan stainless spokes. The fuel tank is fiberglass and had bubbles in the paint from our ethanol fuel. I sealed the tank with Caswell epoxy and had the tank and side covers repainted as original as possible. The headlight was a bit rusty so I had it rechromed. When I rode the bike I discovered that the tachometer was not accurate, someone had replaced it with a different Smith's unit. I replaced it with an accurate instrument so now it's right. While in the instrument console there were lights not working and incorrect. It's all been set right. To get it running as best as possible, I drilled small holes in the intake manifolds so I could install adapters for an accurate carb sync and inserted screws when done. After all this and polishing up the covers, I realized the frame didn't look that good so everything came apart and I powdercoated the frame, swingarm, side and centerstand and anything else in gloss black. The front brake line is clearcoated stainless. The engine and frame have matching numbers. A buyer would probably want to replace the tires which I could do. I've added a photo of the left side handlebar control switch. It has no provision for directionals, this is a first year model v twin and the electrics are about as good as a 1972 British bike but all switches and lights do work. I've added photo of the engine number and the frame number, the frame number is stamped on tin foil not easy to photograph.
