A striking crowd pleaser, this custom Plymouth Suburban low
rider will be the highlight of any Cars & Coffee event.
The Plymouth was built by a father and son team in Southern
California in the mid 90’s and has been largely untouched in appearance since
then. During its transformation, the Suburban had its roof chopped along with dramatically
lowered suspension with air shocks in the rear (with built in compressor) to
raise car when needed. Rims and tires were changed to a smaller diameter to accommodate
the lowered suspension dramatizing the low rider appeal. To finish off; some chrome
trim was deleted and join lines cleaned up, door handles shaved, and a wild
paint job with hand painted pin striping was applied to set this vehicle apart.
To equal the exterior work, the interior has been treated to
the same level of customisation with retrimmed white vinyl seats, white fur
headliner and painted dashboard; tying in with the exterior paint work
perfectly.
The original 318ci engine with push button automatic was
retained for simplicity which makes this a perfect cruiser. Given its
transformation, the Plymouth drives surprisingly well with plenty of poke. Restored
about 30 years ago, the Plymouth still presents well with a few imperfections
to the paint and interior.
An excellent conversation piece to drive as is or modify to
your own tastes, given the rarity of these vehicles it is doubtful that you’ll
see another one (modified or not) on Australian roads.
